Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

The short version

We build websites for small businesses. You pay us. We look after everything. If either of us wants to stop, we can. No tricks, no lock-ins, no nasty surprises in the small print. This page exists because it has to, not because we're trying to catch you out.

What we do

Cawston Digital designs, builds, and manages websites for small businesses. We'll agree on what we're building before we start, and we'll keep you in the loop the whole way through. No vanishing acts.

What you pay

Build fee. A one-off payment for designing and building your site. We'll quote this upfront before any work starts. If the upfront cost doesn't work for you, just say so. We're happy to roll the build fee into your monthly payments to make it easier.

Monthly plan. This covers the cost of keeping your website online, looking after it, making content changes, and handling security updates. If your build fee has been rolled into the monthly payments, that'll be included too. Basically, it's one simple payment for us to take care of everything so you don't have to think about it.

No hidden extras. If something falls outside the agreed scope, we'll tell you before doing it. You'll never get a surprise invoice. If you're ever unsure what you're paying for, just ask. We'll break it down for you, no problem.

Who owns what

Your content (text, photos, logos) is yours. Always has been, always will be.

The website design and code we create for you is yours once the build fee is fully paid. If you're paying the build fee monthly, full ownership transfers once those payments are complete. We might use screenshots in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

Cancellation

If your build fee is paid in full, you can cancel your monthly plan whenever you like. No exit fees, no guilt trips. If your build fee is being paid monthly, we'd just need that to be settled first. We'll always be upfront about where you stand, and we'll help you move your site elsewhere if you want.

What we expect from you

Give us the content we need in reasonable time, pay invoices when they're due, and don't ask us to put anything illegal or harmful on your site. That's about it.

The boring but important bit

We do our best to keep your site running smoothly, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime because the internet is the internet. We're not liable for things outside our control (server outages, natural disasters, the heat death of the universe). Our liability is limited to the fees you've paid us in the last 12 months.

Changes

We might update these terms occasionally. If we do, we'll let you know. Continuing to use our services after that means you're happy with the changes.
